Update

Greetings from Alaska!

Winter is still in full force up here in Alaska, though we are starting to get signs that spring is on its way. Still, most mornings lately have been between -10 and +10 degrees though on the sunny days the temperature runs up to a balmy 25-30 degrees. Snow still covers the ground and there is plenty of ice on the side roads to keep you attentive while driving!

Vicka and the girls are doing pretty well. Emma and Stacia had a small cold over the weekend but are pretty much over it now. Vicka is doing well all things considered, but is looking forward to having the baby and being done with pregnancy! The last prenatal checkup showed everything was well and that “it” will be a Boy! A C-section delivery has been scheduled for the 16th of April. Your prayers are appreciated.

Many of you may have heard in the news today that our “local” volcano, Mt. Redoubt, finally decided to blow. The volcano is located about 40miles or so west of where we live and is on the other side of Cook Inlet. The only problem we may have with the eruption is Ash fall. Currently the wind is taking it well north of Anchorage and has not been an issue for us. Depending on how long the volcano remains active and what the winds do, we may get some ash were we are. It will be an inconvenience but as long as we take the proper precautions, it should not present a significant hazard. If you are interested, you can find out more by following this link: http://avo.alaska.edu/activity/Redoubt.php

Work here at the hangar continues as usual. Keeping the grounds plowed of snow, taking care of building maintenance and working on the various projects going on (The Baskets of Hope team leaves for Moscow in just over three weeks) keeps us plenty busy…that and preparing for the new baby of course!

We will be sending out a newsletter hopefully by mid week to give further update on the last few months of activities.
